Sweet Pickle Squash - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 gal. squash, sliced thin
    1/2 gal. onions, sliced thin
    1/2 c. salt
    4 1/2 c. sugar
    5 c. vinegar
    2 Tbsp. mustard seed
    1 1/2 tsp. celery seed
    1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
    1/2 tsp. ground cloves
Preparation
    Soak squash, onions and salt in ice water 4 to 5 hours.
