Basic Creamy White Sauce - cooking recipe
Ingredients

3 Tbsp. butter (not margarine)
3 Tbsp. all-purpose flour (add more for a thicker sauce)
1 pt. half and half cream (for a richer sauce, use heavy cream; for a lighter sauce, use skim milk)
salt and pepper to taste
cornstarch (optional, but flour tastes better)
Preparation

Make a roux by adding the flour to the butter over heat. Stir with a wire whip. Add cream or milk slowly while stirring constantly. Season to taste.
