Vegetable Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 soup bone with meat
    1/4 cup oil
    4 cups water
    1 medium onion, chopped
    1 cup sliced carrots
    1 cup sliced celery
    1 28-ounce can tomatoes, chopped
    1 tablespoon salt
    2 sprigs parsley, finely chopped
    2 bay leaves, crumbled
    5 peppercorns
    1/2 teaspoon thyme
    1/2 teaspoon marjoram
    2 cups each green beans, corn, peas, diced potatoes
    2 cups sliced okra cabbage, if desired
Preparation
    Cut the meat off bone; brown in hot oil.
    Add water to meat and bone; cook 2 1/2 hours over low heat.
    Add vegetables and seasonings.
    Cook 30-60 minutes, adding water for desired consistency.
    Yields 2 1/2 quarts.
