Calderetta - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. beef, cut into 1 1/2-inch chunks
    4 Tbsp. soy sauce
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 garlic cloves, crushed
    1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
    2 medium potatoes, peeled and quartered
    1 tsp. m.s.g.
    1/2 c. stuffed olives
    1 medium green pepper, seeds removed, cut into 1-inch squares
    3 Tbsp. sherry or vinegar
    2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
    1 medium onion, sliced
    1/2 lb. pepperoni, sliced 1/4-inch thick diagonally
    1/2 tsp. pepper
Preparation
    Season meat with soy sauce, sherry or vinegar and salt.
    Set aside.
    In hot oil, brown garlic, add onions and cook until transparent.
    Add tomato sauce and beef.
    Stir 2 minutes, reduce heat to low and simmer, covered, for 15 minutes.
    Add about 2 cups water; simmer, covered, for 45 minutes or until meat is tender. Add pepperoni, potatoes, m.s.g. and pepper.
    Simmer 7 minutes or until potatoes are soft.
    Taste.
    Add olives and green pepper. Cook for 3 minutes or more.
    Serves 6 to 8.
