Hamburger Vegetable Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 lb. hamburg
    1 c. diced onion
    4 c. water
    1 beef bouillon cube (optional)
    1 potato, chopped
    1 c. sliced carrots
    1 c. shredded cabbage
    1/4 c. uncooked rice
    1/8 tsp. pepper
    1 (28 oz.) can tomatoes
Preparation
    Chop onion.
    Brown hamburg and onion in large pot.
    Drain off fat.
    Add water and bouillon cube.
    Wash and chop potato and carrots.
    Wash and shred cabbage.
    Add potato, carrots and cabbage.
    Bring to a boil.
    Sprinkle rice into the mixture.
    Add pepper.
    Cover and simmer for 1 hour.
    Add tomatoes.
    Heat to simmering and serve.
