Basic Cream Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 baked 9-inch pie shell
    1/2 c. sugar
    5 Tbsp. flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 1/2 c. milk
    3 eggs, separated
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Combine 1/4 cup sugar, salt and flour in top of double boiler. Add milk, gradually, while stirring constantly.
    Cook, over boiling water, until thickened, stirring constantly.
    Cover and cook 15 minutes longer, stirring occasionally.
