Smokey Macaroni And Cheese - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (8 oz.) box elbow pasta
    3 oz. smoked Cheddar cheese or smoked Gouda
    1/2 c. chopped onion
    1 c. reduced sodium chicken broth
    1/4 c. fat-free half and half
    1 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    1 medium size tart apple, coarsely chopped (2/3 c.)
    1 Tbsp. finely shredded Parmesan cheese
Preparation
    Cook pasta according to package directions.
    Shred smoked Cheddar cheese (about 3/4); set aside.
    Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
