Cherokee Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. ground beef
    1 Tbsp. oil
    3/4 c. chopped onions
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    dash of pepper
    1/8 tsp. garlic salt
    tad of thyme
    oregano (sprinkle some around)
    1/2 small bay leaf, crumbled fine
    1 can tomatoes
    1 can cream of mushroom soup
    1 c. Minute Rice, regular rice or macaroni noodles
    3 slices cheese (optional)
Preparation
    Brown meat; add onions.
    Cook until tender.
    Add all other ingredients, except cheese, in order given.
    Simmer 5 minutes. Pour into greased dish.
    Cover with foil.
    Bake until rice is tender, then top with cheese and brown.
