Danish Pastry Apple Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 c. flour
    1 tsp. salt
    1 c. shortening
    1 egg yolk
    milk
    1 c. crushed cornflakes
    8 to 10 sliced apples
    1 c. sugar
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 egg white
    1 Tbsp. water
    1 c. powdered sugar
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Cut together the flour, salt and shortening.
    Add together the egg yolk and enough milk to make 2/3 cup liquid; add to flour mixture and roll as a pie crust.
    Put half the crust on a cookie sheet and cover with crushed cornflakes.
    Add sliced apples, sugar and cinnamon.
    Top with remaining crust.
    Beat an egg white and spread on top of crust.
    Bake at 375\u00b0 about 50 minutes.
    Dribble frosting on top.
