Date Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 tsp. soda
    1 c. boiling water
    1 c. pitted dates, cut up
    2 Tbsp. soft oleo
    1 c. sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 egg
    1 1/3 c. flour
    chopped nuts and raisins (optional)
Preparation
    Pour boiling water and soda over the dates and set aside. Cream together the oleo and sugar.
    Add the vanilla and egg; beat well.
    Add the flour and mix.
    Pour dates and water mixture over and mix together.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 45 to 50 minutes.
    Makes 3 small size loaves.
