Apple Crows Nest - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 tart apples, cored, pared and sliced
    1 1/2 Tbsp. butter
    3/4 c. sugar
    2 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
Preparation
    Arrange apples in greased pie tin and dot with butter. Sprinkle with 1 tablespoon sugar and 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon. Sift flour, baking powder, salt and 1/4 cup sugar together twice. Cut in shortening.
    Add enough milk gradually to make a soft dough.
    Spread over apples.
    Bake in hot oven at 400\u00b0 until apples are tender.
    Turn out upside down.
    Serve hot with whipped cream. Sprinkle cinnamon and chopped nuts.
    Serves 6.
