Squash Puppies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 medium size squash, sliced
    3/4 c. self-rising flour
    1/2 c. buttermilk
    1 medium onion, grated
    1 egg, beaten
    1/4 c. all-purpose flour
    vegetable oil
Preparation
    Cook squash in water for 20 minutes, or until tender.
    Drain, mash and drain again.
    Combine squash and the next 5 ingredients. Drop by scant tablespoons into hot oil; fry for 5 minutes.
    Yields about 2 1/2
    dozen.
    These are great with fresh garden vegetables.
