4 egg whites
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 c. plus 2 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
3 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening (Crisco)
1 c. milk
Preparation

Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
Grease and flour two 9-inch layer pans. Beat egg whites until frothy.
Add 1/2 cup sugar and beat until stiff and glossy.
Set aside.
