Waffles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/4 c. sifted flour
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 eggs, separated
    1 c. sweet milk
    2 Tbsp. shortening, melted
Preparation
    Have all ingredients at room temperature.
    Sift and measure the flour.
    Sift the flour, baking powder, sugar and salt together.
    Separate the egg yolks from the whites.
    Beat the yolks, add the milk and mix together.
    Add the melted shortening after it has cooled slightly.
    Add the liquid ingredients to the sifted dry ingredients.
    Mix only until the dry ingredients are blended.
    Beat the egg whites until they are stiff.
    Then fold them into the batter.
    Pour the batter, about 1/3 cup (the amount varies with the size of the iron), on a hot waffle iron.
    Bake about 4 to 5 minutes.
    Serve at once.
