Picadillo - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 tsp. vegetable oil
    1 1/2 c. chopped onion
    1 jalapeo pepper, seeded and finely chopped
    1 large clove garlic, minced
    1 lb. ground turkey or sirloin
    1 large chopped and peeled Granny Smith apple
    1/2 c. water
    1/4 c. sliced pimento-stuffed olives
    1/4 c. raisins
    3/4 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    2 (3-inch) cinnamon sticks
    1 (14.5 oz.) can diced tomatoes (undrained)
    toasted slivered almonds
Preparation
    Heat oil in large pan.
    Saut onion 3 minutes.
    Add jalapeo and garlic; saut 1 minute.
    Add meat; saut 3 minutes or until brown, stirring to crumble.
    Stir in apple and next 7 ingredients; bring to a boil.
    Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, for 30 minutes or until thick.
    Remove from heat; remove cinnamon sticks and stir in almonds.
    Makes five 1-cup servings.
