Bean Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 small ham bone, finely chop ham from bone
    1 pkg. Great Northern beans
    1 small or medium onion, finely chopped
    3 or 4 strips bacon, diced (raw)
    2 chopped carrots
    1 stalk celery
    1 or 2 potatoes
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    1 small can tomatoes (juice if needed)
    1 Tbsp. parsley
Preparation
    Wash beans thoroughly (about 2 times).
    Remove any bad ones as well as any \"junk\" that floats to the top.
    Drain.
    Add about 6 cups of water to the beans.
    Cover.
    Bring to a boil 2 to 3 minutes.
    Remove from heat.
    Do not remove cover; let set for 1 hour.
