Mother'S Gingerbread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1 egg
1 c. sorghum molasses
2 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 1/2 tsp. soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. cloves
pinch of salt
1 c. hot water
Preparation

Cream shortening and sugar.
Add beaten egg, molasses and dry ingredients which have been sifted together.
Add hot water and beat until mixture is smooth.
Bake in greased and floured 13 x 9-inch pan.
Bake in 350\u00b0 oven for 35 minutes or until done.
