Date Balls - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 pkg. dates
    1/2 c. margarine
    3/4 c. white sugar
    1 egg, well beaten
    3 c. Rice Krispies
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 c. chopped nuts
    1/3 c. chopped cherries (optional)
Preparation
    Cook dates, margarine, sugar and egg over medium-high heat until thick and frothy (about 5 to 10 minutes).
    Stir frequently. Remove from heat.
    Stir in remaining ingredients.
    When cool enough to handle, drop by teaspoonfuls into 10x sugar and roll into balls.
    Flavor improves overnight.
