Sweet-Sour Beef Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 lb. beef stew meat cut in 1-inch cubes
    2 Tbsp. cooking oil
    2 medium carrots, diced
    2 medium onions, sliced
    1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
    1/2 c. water
    1/4 c. packed brown sugar
    1/4 c. vinegar
    1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
    1 tsp. salt
    2 tsp. cornstarch
    poppy seeds (optional)
Preparation
    In 3 qt. saucepan, brown meat in hot oil.
    Then add carrots, onion, tomato sauce, water, sugar, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and salt.
    Cover and cook over low heat until meat is tender, about 1 1/2 hours.
    Then to a tablespoon of cold water, add 2 teaspoons of cornstarch, add to stew.
    Cook until thickened. Serve over noodles or rice.
    Sprinkle with poppy seeds (optional).
