Split Pea Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. split peas
    2 qt. water
    1 medium onion, diced
    1 large carrot, diced
    1 branch celery, sliced thinly
    1 sprig parsley
    1/4 tsp. white ground pepper
    salt to taste
    1/4 lb. precooked ham, diced
    hard-boiled egg, sliced
    paprika
Preparation
    Wash split green peas and add to 2 quarts boiling water.
    Add diced vegetables.
    Cover pot and simmer on low temperature about 1 hour.
    Add ham pieces.
    Simmer about another 30 minutes.
    Peas should look mushy.
    Soup will need to be stirred occasionally to prevent sticking.
