Dill Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 lb. (4-inch) cucumbers
    1/4 c. canning salt
    2 3/4 c. white vinegar
    12 to 14 sprigs fresh dill
    1/8 tsp. aluminum
    14 cloves garlic, peeled and split
    3 c. water
    28 peppercorns
Preparation
    Cut cucumbers lengthwise or into chunks.
    Combine garlic, salt, vinegar and water; heat to boiling.
    Remove garlic and place 4 pieces in each jar along with 4 sprigs dill and 4 peppercorns. Pour hot vinegar solution on top of cucumbers in jars.
    Leave 1-inch headspace.
    Put alum on top of cucumbers and seal jars. Process 10 minutes as soon as you put in canner.
