Sugar Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    3/4 c. soft butter
    1 egg
    1 tsp. grated lemon rind
    1 tsp. vanilla extract
    3 c. all-purpose flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
Preparation
    Cream sugar, salt and butter thoroughly.
    Beat egg, lemon rind and extract into creamed mixture until light and fluffy.
    Sift together flour and baking powder.
    Gradually stir into creamed ingredients.
    Roll dough 1/8-inch thick on floured board.
    Cut into shapes.
    Place on ungreased cookie sheet.
    Sprinkle with sugar.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 9 to 10 minutes or until light brown. Remove to cooling rack.
    Yields 7 dozen.
