Hush Puppies - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1/2 c. corn meal
1/2 c. self-rising flour
1 egg
1 small onion, chopped
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. hot water
oil for deep frying

Preparation

Mix dry ingredients.
Beat egg; add to dry mixture.
Add hot water to mixture.
Heat oil to a rolling boil.
Drop mixture into boil by spoonfuls.
They will float to the top of oil; turn over and let brown.
Remove from oil and drain on paper towel.
