Never Fail Meringue - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    1/2 c. water
    1 Tbsp. cornstarch
    3 egg whites
    1/8 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1/3 c. sugar
Preparation
    In small saucepan, combine the 2 tablespoons of sugar and cornstarch; add water and cook over medium heat until thick and clear.
    Cool.
    In mixer, beat egg whites, salt and vanilla.
    Beat at high speed until foamy.
    Gradually add 1/3 cup of sugar, beating until meringue stands in stiff peaks, then add cooled cornstarch mixture and continue beating until stiff peaks form. Place on filling, being sure to pull over edge of crust to seal. Bake at 350\u00b0 until brown; check often.
