Custard - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 gal. milk
    12 eggs
    3 c. sugar
    1 1/2 tsp. vanilla or lemon flavoring
Preparation
    Place
    milk
    in
    double boiler on stove, leaving 2 cups out to mix with eggs and sugar.
    Scald milk.
    Beat eggs until mixed good, adding sugar gradually and mixing this well.\tAdd the 2 cups of cold milk to this and pour in the scalded milk. Stir and cook until thickened.
    Before serving, add vanilla or lemon flavoring, whichever you like.
