Grandma Fowler'S Whipped Angel Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. scalded milk
    1 Tbsp. gelatin, that has been soaked in water 5 minutes
    2 egg yolks
    1 c. sugar
    1 pt. cream
    1 Tbsp. vanilla
    2 egg whites
    any angel food cake (store bought or homemade)
Preparation
    Cook together for 10 minutes, milk and gelatin.
    Beat egg yolks and sugar and add to milk.
    Cook like a custard (not too thick).
    Put to cool (not in refrigerator).
    Whip the cream and add to custard mixture with vanilla.
    Beat egg whites stiff and fold into mixture.
    Break into pieces any angel food cake.
    Put a layer of cake, then a layer of custard.
    Layer of each until all cake and custard is gone.
    Put in refrigerator until ready to serve.
    Great with fresh strawberries served on top of each piece.
