1/2 c. chopped nuts
18 maraschino cherries, cut fine
4 egg whites
1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
3 c. sifted cake flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. maraschino cherry juice and water mixed

Cream shortening; add 1 cup sugar gradually, creaming until light and fluffy.
