Whole Wheat Backpacking Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 Tbsp. dry yeast
    1 Tbsp. brown sugar
    1/4 c. lukewarm water
    5 c. whole wheat flour
    1/2 c. dry milk
    2 c. warm water
    1 Tbsp. salt
    3 Tbsp. bacon fat or other shortening
    6 Tbsp. honey
Preparation
    Dissolve yeast and brown sugar in 1/4 cup lukewarm water.
    Mix the flour and dry milk together.
    Mix the 2 cups of water, salt, shortening and honey.
    Now combine the yeast and flour mixtures. Add the liquids and stir well.
    Put the dough into 2 greased 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 x 2 1/2-inch bread pans.
    Let rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
    Bake at 400\u00b0 for about 45 minutes.
