Squash Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    8 c. squash
    2 c. onions
    4 bell pepper (2 red, 2 green)
    salt
    3 c. sugar
    2 c. vinegar
    2 tsp. celery seed
    2 tsp. mustard seed
    2 tsp. turmeric
Preparation
    Slice squash, onions and peppers, sprinkle with salt.
    Let set 1 hour.
    Drain. Make a syrup of sugar, vinegar, celery seed, mustard seed and turmeric.
    Pour over squash, peppers and onions. Let boil a few minutes.
    Pack in jars.
    Makes 7 pints.
