Hamburger Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. lean ground beef
    1 (28 oz.) can tomatoes, cut up
    2 medium carrots, peeled and sliced
    2 stalks celery, chopped
    1/3 c. barley
    1/4 c. catsup
    2 beef bouillon cubes
    1 tsp. dried basil
    1 bay leaf
Preparation
    In large pot cook ground beef until browned.
    Drain off fat. Stir in remaining ingredients and 5 cups water.
    Bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 1 hour.
    Season to taste with salt and pepper.
    Remove bay leaf.
    Serves 8.
