2 Egg Sponge Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 eggs
    2/3 c. water
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1 1/4 c. sugar
    1 1/2 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
    1/2 tsp. salt (optional)
Preparation
    In a large bowl, beat the yolks, flavoring and water until it looks like enough to make a quart.
    Add one cup of sugar gradually and beat seven minutes.
    Add flour, baking powder and salt, sifted together and beat just until mixed.
    Finally, beat egg whites stiff and then add gradually the remaining 1/4 cup sugar and the cream of tartar and beat until very stiff.
    Fold egg whites into batter.
    Bake in an ungreased tube pan at 350\u00b0 for about 45 minutes.
    Invert pan and cool.
    Delicious.
    Frost or serve with strawberries and Cool Whip.
