Buttermilk Biscuits - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 3/4 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 Tbsp. baking powder
    5 to 6 Tbsp. butter, margarine or Crisco shortening
    3/4 c. buttermilk
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 400\u00b0.
    Combine flour with salt and baking powder.
    Use 2 knives or a pastry blender to cut in butter or substitute.
    No piece of shortening should be larger than a pea. Add buttermilk and stir the mixture until it holds together. Briefly knead on lightly floured surface.
    Roll to 1/2-inch thickness and cut into 2-inch rounds.
    Place in ungreased 9-inch baking pan and bake at 400\u00b0 about 12 to 15 minutes, or until the biscuits are nicely browned.
    Serve immediately.
    Makes about 1 dozen.
