Almond Toffee - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. butter
    2 1/2 c. granulated sugar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    10 oz. pkg. blanched almonds
    12 oz. pkg. semi-sweet chocolate bits
Preparation
    Melt butter in large, heavy saucepan.
    Add granulated sugar and salt.
    Bring to boiling foam over medium-high heat, stirring constantly.
    Turn heat to low; stir for 5 minutes.
    Add almonds and return to medium-high heat, still stirring.
    Boil until almonds split (you'll hear them pop).
    Turn heat to low for another 5 minutes.
    Pour into sheet pan and sprinkle chocolate bits over the hot toffee.
    Allow to melt and spread evenly over all.
    Sprinkle with sliced almonds.
    Allow to cool completely, then turn out onto clean surface and break into pieces.
