Chinese Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. stew beef
    medium onion, chopped
    pepper
    cooking oil
    1 can mushroom soup
    1 can water
    1 can water chestnuts, drained
    1 Tbsp. soy sauce
    1 head cabbage (1-inch pieces)
    1 can bamboo shoots, drained
Preparation
    Brown meat in oil and pepper.
    Add soup, water, onion and soy sauce.
    Cover and simmer 1 1/2 hours or until tender.
    Add cabbage and shoots.
    Simmer until tender.
