Chocolate Chews - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
    1/2 c. butter or margarine, softened (1/4 lb.)
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    2 eggs
    2 c. all-purpose flour
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
Preparation
    In double boiler over simmering water, melt chocolate chips; set aside.
    In large bowl, beat butter and 1 cup sugar until creamy.
    Beat in eggs and chocolate.
    Mix dry ingredients in small bowl, then add gradually to butter mixture.
    Place remaining sugar in small bowl.
    Roll dough in 1-inch balls and roll in sugar. Place 2-inches apart on greased baking sheet.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 12 to 14 minutes or until tops appear dry.
    Cool one minute, then transfer to rack.
    Store airtight.
    Makes 3 1/2 dozen.
