Dad'S "Scratch" Hot Cakes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. whole wheat flour
    1/3 c. dry milk
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    1/3 tsp. salt
    1 c. water
    1 egg
    1 Tbsp. cooking oil or melted shortening
Preparation
    Mix dry ingredients.
    Add 3/4 of the water to make a rather thick mixture.
    Add egg and mix. Add shortening and mix. Add more water or flour, if necessary, to make batter of desired consistency. Fry in greased frying pan at medium-low heat, turning when bubbles begin to appear in cakes.
    Makes 8 to 10 medium size 4-inch cakes.
    Serve with margarine, syrup, jelly, honey or whatever.
