Big Ma'S Plain Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 lb. butter (do not melt on stove)
1/2 c. Crisco or 8 Tbsp.
5 eggs
3 c. sugar
3 c. plain flour
1 c. milk
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. lemon
Preparation

Cream shortening and sugar.
Add eggs, one at a time. Mix well.
Add dry ingredients; alternate with milk. Add flavoring. Pour in greased cake pan and place in a cold oven (not too near top of oven). Bake at 350\u00b0 for 1 hour and 20 minutes. Test with straw.
