Potato Dumplings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 3/4 lb. potatoes
    3 level tsp. salt
    9 oz. cornstarch
    1/2 pt. milk
    1 level tsp. baking powder
    1 stale roll or slice bread
    butter or margarine
    bacon
Preparation
    Wash potatoes and boil well until done.
    Skin at once.
    Mash 2 1/4 pounds.
    Add salt, cornstarch and boiling milk.
    Dough will be soft at first but will become firmer as it cools.
    Dice, roll and fry until golden brown.
    With floured hands, shape the potato dough into dumplings.
    Press into each ball a few croutons.
    Drop into boiling salted water.
    Simmer until done.
    Cooking time is 20 to 25 minutes.
