Cucumber Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 medium-sized cucumbers
    2 small white onions, thinly sliced
    1 c. distilled white vinegar or cider vinegar *
Preparation
    Peel cucumbers.
    Slice very thinly.
    Place in a large, shallow, nonmetallic bowl.
    Salt generously.
    Place a heavy plate on top; weight with jars or cans.
    Let stand for 1 hour.
