Scalloped Onions With Cheese Sauce - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 or 6 medium onions
    1/4 c. butter
    1/4 c. pre-sifted flour
    2 c. milk
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 c. grated American cheese
Preparation
    Slice onions thin into 1 1/2-quart casserole.
    Melt butter in saucepan. Stir in flour.
    Gradually stir in milk; cook over moderate heat, stirring constantly, until thickened and smooth. Add salt and cheese. Cook, stirring, until melted.
    Pour over onions.
    Bake in preheated 350\u00b0 oven for 1
    hour.
