Blackberry Jam Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. Crisco shortening
    1 c. light brown sugar
    1 c. blackberry jam
    1 c. buttermilk
    2 eggs, beaten
    2 1/2 c. cake flour
    1 tsp. soda
    1/4 tsp. cinnamon
    1/4 tsp. nutmeg
    1/4 tsp. cloves
Preparation
    Cream shortening and sugar and add the beaten eggs.
    Sift flour, measured and sift with added spices.
    Add flour alternately with buttermilk and soda.
    Add jam and 1 teaspoon vanilla.
    Turn into two 9-inch layer cake tins which have been greased and floured.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 or 35 minutes.
    Ice with caramel frosting.
