Closet Sweet Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    cucumbers
    distilled vinegar
    oil of cloves
    5 lb. sugar
Preparation
    Fill
    wide-mouth gallon jar with cucumbers.
    Cover with distilled
    vinegar.
    Put
    jar
    in brown paper sack; set jar in closet for\t6 weeks.
    At end of 6 weeks, drain and wash cucumbers. Slice
    very
    thin;
    layer cucumbers and sugar in gallon jar.
    Put back in closet.
    About once a week, shake jar until sugar is dissolved.\tPlace cucumbers in pint jars.
    Cover with the syrup drained from cucumbers to which 2 or 3 drops of oil of cloves has been added.
    You do not need to seal jars.\tFive pounds of sugar is needed for this recipe.
