Hush Puppies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. stone-ground cornmeal
    1 tsp. double-acting baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 to 3 Tbsp. minced onion
    1 egg
    1/2 c. milk
Preparation
    Mix together cornmeal, baking powder, salt and minced onion. Beat together egg and milk.
    Combine with dry ingredients and form into oblong cakes or pones, about 2 x 4 x 3/4-inch.
    Fry in deep fat heated to 370\u00b0 until golden brown.
    Drain on paper toweling and serve at once.
    Makes about twelve 2 1/2-inch puppies.
