Thumbprints - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. butter-flavor Crisco
    1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
    1 egg
    1 Tbsp. vanilla
    2 1/2 c. uncooked Quaker oats (quick or old-fashioned)
    2 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. ground nuts
    fruit preserves for filling
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Beat Crisco and brown sugar until fluffy.
    Beat in egg and vanilla.
    Add combined oats, flour and salt; mix well.
    Add nuts; mix.
    Form into 1-inch balls.
    Place on ungreased cookie sheet.
    Press centers with thumb; fill with favorite preserves (apricot, strawberry and raspberry are very good).
    Combination of preserves makes a nice looking pattern. Bake 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
    Remove to wire rack; cool completely.
    Makes about 5 to 6 dozen.
