Rum Sundae Sauce - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. firmly packed brown sugar
    1/3 c. water
    1/3 c. light corn syrup
    2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
    1/8 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. rum extract
Preparation
    Combine first 5 ingredients in a saucepan; cook over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves.
    Reduce heat to low; cook, without stirring, until a candy thermometer reaches 230\u00b0.
    Remove from heat, and cool slightly.
    Stir in rum extract.
    Serve over ice cream.
    Yields 1 cup.
