Ingredients

1 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 egg, beaten until thick
1 Tbsp. melted shortening
3/4 c. milk
3 to 4 large sweet onions, cut into thick slices
Preparation

Sift dry ingredients together.
Combine other ingredients and stir into flour mixture.
Dip onion rings into batter a few at a time.
Fry in hot oil (about 2 inches deep).
Drain on paper towel and salt to taste.
