Spiced Cider - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 qt. cider
    1/2 c. sugar
    dash of salt
    12 whole cloves
    2 (4-inch) cinnamon sticks
    8 whole allspice
Preparation
    Combine all ingredients in 2-quart saucepan.
    Bring to a boil, stirring until sugar is dissolved.
    Cool.
    Refrigerate, covered, for several hours.
    Just before serving, reheat slowly.
    Strain to remove spices.
    Serve hot in mugs or punch cups along with cookies.
    Makes 8 servings.
