Gumdrop Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    1 c. butter
    1 1/2 c. sweetened applesauce
    4 c. flour
    2 eggs
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. cloves
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. soda, dissolved in Tbsp. hot water
    2 lb. chopped gumdrops
    1 lb. raisins
    1 1/2 c. nuts
Preparation
    Cream butter and sugar; add well beaten eggs, 2 cups flour, spices, soda and applesauce.
    Sift remaining 2 cups flour over gumdrops, fruit and nut meats.
    Mix this well and add to other mixture.
    Bake for 2 hours at 300\u00b0.
    For best results use a large tube pan.
