Mother'S Date-Nut Loaf - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 1/2 c. boiling water
1 c. chopped pitted dates
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 egg, beaten
2 1/4 c. flour
1/4 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 Tbsp. melted shortening
1 c. chopped black walnuts
1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Pour boiling water over dates and let stand 10 minutes. Meanwhile add the sugar gradually to the egg while beating.
Add baking powder, soda and salt.
Then add dates and water.
Stir. Add flour, shortening, nuts and vanilla.
Pour in greased loaf pan.
Bake at 350\u00b0 45-50 minutes.
