Portuguese Rice - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. water
    1 c. rice
    1 Tbsp. butter
    1 can red kidney beans, drained
    1 carrot, diced
    1 red pepper (optional)
    salt to taste
    1/2 c. diced ham (if desired)
    1/2 c. diced potatoes (if desired)
    1/2 c. chopped cabbage (if desired)
Preparation
    Put lid on and cook on low for approximately 1 hour.
    Stir twice only (never again).
    \"Pray over it.\"
    This is a dry rice. Leftovers may be fried crisp.
